Mario Kart Wii Challenges: The Stats
The Mario Kart Wii challenge is a racing video game developed and published by Nintendo, exclusively for the Wii console. The eighth installment (including arcade versions) in the simulated racing game series Mario Kart, Mario Kart Wii was released worldwide in April 2008 and is Wii’s fourth-bestselling video game, with over 13 million copies sold worldwide to date. Mario Kart Wii challenges can be played using the standard console as well as the peripheral Wii Wheel, which is included with every Mario Kart Wii purchase, providing a more realistic and spontaneous steering experience.
The Mario Kart Wii battle succeeds the series’ seventh installment, Mario Kart DS, released for play on the Nintendo DS handheld console. Like its predecessors, Mario Kart Wii essentially involves selectable characters from various Mario Kart games, racing in go-karts around tracks to win trophies. In Mario Kart Wii competitions, video game jockeys speed their way through a series of Grand Prix Cups (consisting of four races apiece) against live or computer-generated opponents. At the conclusion of the cup, each simulated speedster receives a trophy specific to their finishing position as well as a performance-based rating.
But let’s face facts: While toy trophies, points, and bragging rights are all well and good, real racing is about the most commercialized sport around…and you deserve a piece of the pie (the “PILLSBURY” pie, that is). When you sign up for a free BringIt membership, you can hook up with drivers from all around the world to compete for cash in head-to-head video game Mario Kart Wii battles and multiplayer online Mario Kart Wii tournaments.
